My name is Rebekkah Traptow and I am a Full Spectrum Doula, Childbirth Educator, and Breastfeeding Educator. I am 26 and the mother of 3 children ages 5, 4 and 2. My husband Joshua and I have been married for 6 years and we currently reside in the Red Deer, AB area; the community in which I serve! I love to cook, bake (my husband appreciates this), play various sports, and am up for pretty much anything I can do with a coffee in hand (don’t worry, I finish my coffee BEFORE attending a birth).
I have always had a deep seeded desire to love and support others, but it wasn’t until I had my own children that I realized my heart truly longed to serve in maternal care. As I began to explore what that looked like, I mentioned to a friend that “I just want to love on, encourage and help moms, whether they are pregnant, have small children or anywhere along the line, whatever that looks like”. My friend laughed and said “Rebekkah, that’s a Doula! Go for it!” A few short months later I attended my first class of a 16 week Maternal Support Practitioner Course and fell in love with Doula work. I fell so in love with the maternal community that I pursued further certifications in childbirth and breastfeeding education to be able to offer a wider range of .
My mission with Love First Maternal Support is to meet families where they are at and empower them to be autonomous, confident, joyful and satisfied with their pregnancy and postpartum journeys. I want to be a part of the all important “village”; Loving, encouraging and helping my clients at every stage!
The way I approach maternal care is with a “love first” mindset. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, what your age, nationality, beliefs or background is: I will love and support you first! I believe that even the smallest acts, when done in love, make the greatest impact on the world.
“Love is like a placenta; it nourishes everything it’s connected to.”
I completed my Maternal Support Practitioner training through Bebo Mia in 2018. Over 16 weeks, I attended training sessions on the following subjects:
I have also completed Childbirth Educator and Breastfeeding Educator Courses to expand and enhance my knowledge in these areas.
With over 100 hours of fertility, birth and postpartum support training, and hundreds more hours educating families and supporting various clients, I am confident in my ability to help you achieve the most positive and empowering fertility, birth, and postpartum experience.
I am truly grateful for every family that invites me to witness them grow and should you invite me to be a part of your story, it would be an honor an a privilege to serve you.
