Birth & Postpartum Support

Steady, knowledgeable companionship before, during and after birth — including gentle care through pregnancy and postpartum loss.

Before, during & after

Support that grows with your family

From the first flutter of planning through your baby's arrival and the tender weeks that follow, a birth and postpartum doula is a calm, consistent presence — helping you feel prepared, advocated for and genuinely cared for.

Every doula in our association works independently, so you can find someone whose approach, experience and availability feel right for you.

Continuous presence

Someone steady, the whole way through

Birth rarely follows a schedule. Having a doula means there's a calm, familiar presence beside you for the long hours — reading the room, suggesting what might help, and reminding you that you're doing beautifully.

That continuity is part of what makes doula support so meaningful: not stepping in to take over, but staying close so you never feel alone.

Good to know

Common questions

What's the difference between a birth doula and a midwife?

A midwife is a medical provider who delivers clinical care. A birth doula provides continuous emotional, physical and informational support, but does not perform medical tasks. The two roles work beautifully side by side.

When should I hire a birth doula?

Many families connect with a doula in the second trimester, but it's never too early or too late to reach out. Use the directory to find a doula whose availability matches your due date.

Do you support families through pregnancy or infant loss?

Yes. Several of our doulas offer compassionate support through miscarriage, stillbirth and infant loss. Please reach out and we'll help connect you with the right person, gently and at your pace.

What does postpartum support look like?

Postpartum doulas help in those first weeks at home — feeding support, rest, light household help, newborn care guidance and an experienced, reassuring presence.
