Birth is a journey, an incredible event that should empower every couple as they bring their beautiful baby into their loving arms. It is truly special to witness such a powerful and intimate occasion and with each birth I attend my passion continues to grow.

My name is Christa Duquette and I’m a DONA certified Birth Doula serving Red Deer and rural areas including Olds & Three Hills. I have had the pleasure of supporting Hospital Births, Midwife Births, Home Births, VBAC Moms, Natural Birth, Hypnobabies Births, Epidurals, Surrogate Births and Cesarean Births. My goal is to tailor my services to suit your needs and help assist and guide you in achieving the birth that you desire, whatever your preferences may be. I pride myself on providing personalized care and

individualized services to each client.

My passion for birth started after my first little one made her wonderful entrance into this world in 2004, but it wasn’t until my third pregnancy that I learned I could share my passion and train to be a Birth Doula. I wasn’t even aware that such a thing as a Doula existed and I was determined to learn as much as I could. I began training through DONA International to be part of a volunteer Doula program in February of 2012 and since then my Doula Services have grown immensely. I attended my first birth in October 2012 and

instantly I knew something very special had begun.

Supporting couples during childbirth is a great honour and joy. There is a power that goes beyond, a strength that is hidden inside each women, a knowledge that can carry her through the journey of birth when she feels supported. Being able to share in such an experience and to be invited into the birth team is a great privilege. I have supported couples in Olds, Three Hills and Red Deer with clients coming from Airdrie all the way to Ponoka and in-between. In addition to being a board member of the Red Deer Doula Association, I also volunteer with the Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Center in Olds and Red Deer as a Birth and Bereavement Doula, and with the AHS Volunteer Doula Program. My services include two or three

Pre-Natal visits, continuous support during the entire duration of labour, and  Post-Postpartum follow up.

 

I also offer basic birth photography and birth notes if you wish. I completed my Hypnobabies® Hypno-Doula Certification in Feb 2015, my StillBirthday Doula Certification for Birth and Bereavement in 2016 and

Dancing for Birth Training in Sept 2015 for Prenatal Bellydance Classes and demos.

With the support of my Husband, who farms full time on our 4th generation farm, I am able to pursue this passion as a Birth and Bereavement Doula. It allows for flexibility in my work schedule and both my husband and precious children offer support to me every step of the way. For that I am forever eternally grateful.

I know the journey for me as a Doula will take me on many paths and that my future is full of learning and growth. I look forward to attending many more births and wait with eagerness for each one.

 

My hope is that every client will allow birth to empower them and bring them joy, strength, and hope.
